"CONVERGENZE"

HOPERA
Poetic and involving oniric voyage in the great airs and melodies of the Italian and European Bel Canto, that with elegance and irony, poetry and smiles are interpreted, leaded to the present day to make it to appreciate their beauty and immortality. A gentle touch that makes flying off the dust of time and creates a unique work, 'HOPERA', in fact, with a new language, contaminated, aesthetic but with dramaturgical content, high but enjoyable, which enhances and shapes the arias by Verdi , Leoncavallo, Rossini, Handel, Mozart.

CHOREOGRAPHY: FEDERICA GALIMBERTI, MATTIA DE VIRGILIIS, FRANCESCO DI LUZIO,
MUSIC: VERDI, LEONCAVALLO, ROSSINI, HANDEL, MOZART

"PER...INCISO"
Italy seen through the voice of its songwriters and great interpreters from the '60s to today
zigzagging between the melodies dear to the Italian public ( from Modugno to Sinatra , from De Andrè to Gaber, from Capossela to Jovanotti ) putting together, as always, different generations with similar experiences and emotions.
COREOGRAPHY: FEDERICA GALIMBERTI & MATTIA DE VIRGILIIS
MUSIC:  ITALIAN SINGER-SONGWRITERS FROM ‘60 TILL NOW

CONVERGENZE’ presents itself as an abstractal, fascinating and stimulating relationship between electronic music and ground, light and rhythm, power and joy of dynamics. The choreographer, Federica Galimberti, has wittingly and accurately chosen to present this interesting dance creation with an only male ensemble with significant scenic effect, but also capable of expressing the limitless vulnerability of human being in front of the light. A new language, contaminated, spoiled with the intrusion of visual/light design, that sometimes creates problems and sometimes highlights the abstractal tale of the eternal questions through rhythmical and percussive almost tribal suggestions. An atavistic rhythm that today materializes itself in urban, street, ground dance that the Hip Hop Culture has exalted as a positive challenge and sharing convergences of moments, atmospheres and dynamics. CONVERGENZE is a particular work created for the street and became theatrical one.

In the footsteps of Cassandra  / Punch Line
In the Footsteps of Cassandra
Choreography: Ronit Ziv Dancers: Gefen Liberman, Stav Struz
Music: Concerto no.1 for Piano and Orchestra by Johannes Brahms.
In the footsteps of Cassandra - was performed in January 2013, as a part of an evening program that presented four short choreographies that I have created during 1999-2013, from my first choreography to Cassandra. In this work I have examined the ways in which choreography can be influenced by a dramatic text. Working on Aeschylus’ tragedies during my studies in the Laboratory of Approaches to Ancient texts – Greek Tragedy, I was enchanted by Cassandra and tried to find ways to dance “her”. At the same time, I tried to avoid over-interpreting her mental, emotional state, as well as avoid what I perceive as a misinterpretation of her insanity.
I was trying to identify where the text and the movement image overlap.

The foundation for the dialogue between Aeschylus' Cassandra and my choreography is based on the image vocabulary that characterizes “Agamemnon” (and Aeschylus’ writing In general). I have collected several central images spoken by Cassandra and the chorus: “Hunting dog"(line 1093) The god`s gift stays with her although she is a slave” (line1084)…"keen on the scent"(1093) "she searches for a track of murder"(line1094) and several central images spoken by Cassandra alone: "my destroyer" (line 1082) “a floor sprinkled with blood" (line 1093) "Oh! What about my miserable evil fate I cry aloud pouring my own suffering as well (line 1136)”
My method of working was that I “threw” the images out into the studios' working space and looked for physical "resemblance". In most cases, several movements' solutions were created for every image. Then I moved on to map the manifestation of the text and it`s physical images, by giving each time a different instruction. For instance: I asked the

dancers to react in movement to the intonation of the word and to its rhythm. For each word that I chose I asked the dancers to focus in a specific body part, and to move only with this body part. When I said "hunting dog" the movement was focused in the nose, toes, front hip. When we worked with the word, " The god`s gift stays with her although she is a slave " we simply tried to imitate the immediate image of being captured, hands and legs tied together. The movement instruction was to try to move without separation of the hands and legs. When we were working on "a floor sprinkled with blood" we tried to imagine that process when you notice that the floor is full with blood until you realized that this is the reality. For "she searches for a track of murder" we let simply to noise to lead the movement. Following this new movement lexicon, the work focused on the need to define the movement and to try to speak it loud and clear.
The traces of Cassandra in space, draw a vertical course, in a direct and indirect line. The starting point is up stage center, continue down stage, than again direct to the upstage at the end of the work resemble her death.
The work is a duet for two woman.
Teaching the material/solo to another dancer this produced another question regarding the aspect of transferring a specific movement / physical process to a dancer who owns physical characteristics that are very different from mine.  For example, I have noticed that when Geffen, my dancer, performs the piece, the emphasis is put on a more graphic/technical body language, one that details the hand-work and enhances a sharp and formative quality.
The challenge is remain on combining the dancer qualities with the needs of the choreography and the difficulties/questions/conflicts it raised, invites dancers to take part in the piece as a performer, in which two solos are performed simultaneously.Geffen performs the one true to Agamemnon's text and images and Stav will perform the more elaborated one. Randomly, the two interact with the same movements, then disengage to separate processes until the next time in which the movement finds its common ground.

‘Physical poetry # meeting’
By Ulrich Gottlieb (Munich / Germany)  and  Mira Kratochwil (Vienna / Austria)
a poetic contemplation about moments of #meeting. Investigating  values of respect, compassion, responsibility, risk, joy, sensuality and changes in context of modern everyday life. Physical poetry #meeting is a fresh contemporary performance with elements of dance/poetry, 1 dancer and 1 poet meeting in a space during dusk, time of transition into a dreamscape. a dialogue starts. They do not know where the conversation goes. Poetic  movement and poetic text interweaving into a flow of moment. The audience is witnessing the formation and volatilization of a physical poetry. What will happen next, right now in this moment? In our modern time where social media tools keeps people often apart from each rather than bring them together, physical poetry #meeting shows how more powerful, notorious and magical being together and present in the moment in same space and breath still can be.

It looks at how although there are people suffering in the world, other parts of the world can go on without suffering.

Performance’s name: Reverie
Choreographer name: Emmy Khawsam-ang
Music: Quintette No. 1 – Dustin O’Halloran
Synopsis: Reverie – a state of being lost in one’s thoughts. Even when we are with others, we are still lost in our own solitudes.

Performer’s Name: Emmy Khawsam-ang, Carina de Vries

Performance’s name: Embrace
Choreographer & Performer: Anand (Boon) Wongpaisan
Music: -Firestone ft. Conrad Sewell -Firestone ft. Conrad Sewell (Acoustic Live)
Synopsis: In today’s society, most of us naturally compare us individuals to one another. Some of us fail to realize that those who we are comparing are rather on the opposite sides of the spectrum or rather very different. If we allow ourselves to rethink and consider the fact that some individuals possess traits that others do not, we can accept and see the value of that person for whom he/she is. It is then, that you will see why it is ok to be different.
Duration: 3:07 minutes

Performance’s name:  Audio/Visual/Arts
Director name / Choreographer name: “Haste” Sompong Leartvimolkasame
Company: 360ARTz Dance Company
Music:  Play live by Clarinet and Thai instruments (Sor-Ou,Perng-mang)

Synopsis: The way that dancers communicate to audiences is nonverbal communication by body language to perform in visual arts. They also use music which is audio art to help communicating with audiences. As a contemporary dancer, I use music in performance for inspiring myself and audiences to deliver and receive the messages from the show. In live performance, we use bands to perform music for dancers. Somehow, music doesn't affect much with the performance or couldn’t be able to put an impact to audiences and dancers. Most of performances do not put the band on spot, even though it's live: ballet, movements affect the performance for over 60 percent; opera, music affect the performance over 60 to 70 percent as well. I believe that we can put both things on the same spot. Like, 100 percent and 100 percent. This piece is all about putting audio art and visual art together, put them in a same spot, put them in a same direction. Dancers and Musicians have to learn how to create the performance in the same way. Above all that I also put a painter to summarize the performance by painting.
Objective of the performance is to experiment finding the best way to deliver the fullest visual arts and audio arts to the audiences by contemporary audiovisual arts. For people who has no ideas about Butoh, this performance will give you a very smooth introduction and a very intense hardcore advance lesson at the same time.
Duration:      45 mins
Number of performer: 7
Performer’s Name: Tanakorn Sanvaraphipu, Krid Prarom, Sathanthorn Proramattamasakol, Pattana Kerdpeng, Nattamongkol Boonmapitakku, Vittavat Kornmaneeroj, Ruksiney Acalasawamak

Performance’s name: Tae Joon Kim
Director name / Choreographer:           Jaleea Price/ Tae Joon Kim
Music: I See Fire- Ed Sheeran
Synopsis: This choreography is a story of my own life in an abstract way going against my own thought and my own life goals as everything weighs me down. This is also a piece that talks about my family’s expectation and society’s expectation as both compares me to someone that I am not. For example, my family compares me to my brother while society compares me to a successful and rich man.

"Amplitude" means the maximum of a wave. In physics, we say every happening in the universe is “a perturbation from equilibrium”, in other words, a “wave”. So is life. "Amplitude: Freedom of the Soul" operates on the premise that life is a dance; it already is. Mind-body is a duality. The main task of the performers in “Amplitude” is to observe, to ride on and amplify this energy to free themselves from limitations--physical, mental, and perhaps the most brutal, social, all by the simple yet challenging act of observing and listening.
In the process of Amplitude, we meditate walking. We notice a source of energy in the body, that buzzy feeling that was there even when you are at rest or sleeping. That inner self is still working to keep you alive. That heat like the magma inside the center of the earth that can readily erupt out into the crust. We connect and amplify this energy. We source our movement by listening to the spinal mechanics, the "temple" of the nervous system and skeletal support. We also inquire into the cavities and the liquid body inside us for music. We allow these sounds to echo in this internal space so that our body becomes an instrument, a perceptive one that responds acutely to each other and our environment. We let our waves of existence emanates, makes space and creates imagination…to become free--the only way we can survive in this demanding world.
อาณาจักร Kingdom (30 mins…will be developed further into a 45-60 mins piece in January 2016)
Anajak (“Kingdom” in Thai) is a contemporary dance exhibition about animals, the issue of survival in ecology, and the food pyramid. The process of evolution is simulated in the body of performers. Through this process, the bodies develop a kinesthetic memory, that of some basic oceanic life forms, which soon enough leads them to interact with each other in a peculiar, yet quite reminiscent, way. In Kingdom, we explore the animals inside us, while at the same time set up a social experiment that questions what constitute the rule of nature and hierarchy, a system of power negotiation inside this simulated ecology. Will these creatures live in harmony? How will they survive together if at all?
