The Ari Hoenig Quartet have a spiky, yet highly musical approach to jazz, epitomised by the band leader, a drummer and composer with a uniquely melodic grasp of the kit. The New York Times says, “[He has] expansive technique and deep musicality, Ari Hoenig approaches jazz drumming with manic glee”, while drumming legend Steve Smith says, “[Hoenig is] an unalloyed pleasure, matching rhythmic verve with a keen ear for melody.”
These are skills that have seen him perform in the highest spheres of the art, alongside giants like Wynton Marsalis, Herbie Hancock and Pat Metheny.
The Ari Hoenig quartet was formed through gigs at the New York Village jazz club the Fat Cat and consists of Gilad Hekselman (guitar), Orlando LeFleming (bass) and Jamie Oehlers (sax).
