This classical ballet production of Romeo & Juliet was choreographed by Derek Deane, OBE and former Artistic Director of the English National Ballet. The Financial Times, London, declared in a review, This may be the most theatrically detailed, daring and amatory of Romeo and Juliet ballets.
Romeo & Juliet will be performed by Shanghai Ballet, recognised as a strong regional dance company, for their premier appearance in Bangkok. The company is respected for upholding a classical ballet discipline and for their repertoire of updated versions of classic favourites, plus their growing number of works woven with a traditional Chinese element such as A Sigh of Love, The Butterfly Lovers.
Romeo & Juliet, with its tale of star-crossed lovers, family conflicts and tragic consequences, remains one of the most well-known, moving love stories around the world.
