     คณะคลาวด์ เกต แดนซ์ เธียเตอร์ จากไต้หวัน ทำให้ผู้ชมในหลายประเทศตะลึงงันมาแล้ว กับรูปแบบการแสดงร่วมสมัยของพวกเขาที่ผสมผสานการเต้นเข้ากับปรัชญาตะวันออก ผู้เป็นพลังสำคัญที่อยู่เบื้องหลังคณะนี้ ก็คือ หลิน เหว่ย มิน นักออกแบบท่าเต้นผู้มีชื่อเสียง เจ้าของรางวัลแห่งความสำเร็จจากรายการ 2008 International Movimentos Dance Award ของยุโรป

     มูน วอเตอร์ หรือ Shui Yuei ในภาษาจีน เป็นการอุปมาถึงสองสิ่ง หนึ่งคือ ภาษิตในศาสนาพุทธที่ว่า “ดอกไม้ในกระจก และดวงจันทร์ที่ส่องแวววาวอยู่ในน้ำ ล้วนเป็นสิ่งลวงตา” และสองคือ แนวคิดเรื่องการฝึกไทชิ ที่ว่า “พลังงานไหลราวกับน้ำ ส่วนจิตวิญญาณส่องสว่างราวแสงจันทร์” การตีความของการแสดงชุดนี้มีทั้งการตีความด้านกายภาพในงานออกแบบเวที และแนวคิดในการออกแบบท่าเต้น ดนตรีประกอบการแสดงเป็นการเดี่ยวเชลโล จากบทประพันธ์ Six Suitesของเจ.เอส. บาค ( J.S. Bach)

     Cloud Gate Dance Theatre from Taiwan has stunned international audiences with their contemporary dance productions infused with eastern philosophical elements. The creative driver behind the company is acclaimed choreographer Lin Hwai-Min, recipient of the 2008 International Movimentos Dance Award, a lifetime achievement award from Europe.

     Moon Water (or Shui Yuei in Chinese) is a metaphor for two things: one, the Buddhist proverb, “Flowers in a mirror and moon on the water are both illusory” and two, the ideal state for Tai Chi practitioners, “Energy flows as water, while the spirit shines as the moon.” This is interpreted both physically, in the stage design, and conceptually, in the choreography. The performance is set to a selection from J.S. Bach’s Six Suites for Solo Cello.

     “The grace of it, in a way, is balletic, but its evasion of the norms of gravity, its total fluidity, suggests that there is a new book of the human dancing body waiting to be written with t’ai chi training.” The Daily Telegraph
