Our 2025/26 season bursts to life in radiant style under the baton of our new Music Director, Carl St.Clair! Brilliant American pianist Claire Huangci, hailed for her “radiant virtuosity,” takes center stage in Prokofiev’s electrifying Piano Concerto No. 3. The night begins with the world premiere of Narong Prangcharoen’s luminous new work, Eternal Radiance, and shines to a thrilling and optimistic close with Beethoven’s joy-filled Symphony No. 7.

A Tale of Two Epic Masterpieces 

 

Our season continues in epic fashion! Violinist Aubree Oliverson, celebrated for her evocative lyricism and joyful, genuine artistry, takes on Beethoven’s majestic Violin Concerto. In the second half, Maestro Carl St.Clair delves into Tchaikovsky’s deeply emotional Symphony No. 6, “Pathétique”, a journey of brooding passion, turmoil, and mournful farewell.

Shostakovich’s Leningrad

 

A Program of Romance and Resilience

 

TPO is thrilled to welcome back the brilliant young violinist Clarissa Bevilacqua whose dazzling performance in 2023 left us spellbound. She returns to share the heartfelt beauty of Bruch’s deeply romantic Violin Concerto. At the podium, guest conductor Rossen Milanov leads the orchestra in Shostakovich’s monumental Leningrad Symphony, a powerful tribute to human resilience, written amid the darkness and defiance of wartime Leningrad.

A World Premiere, A Classic Concerto, and an Earth-Shaking Symphony

 

While writing his Seventh Symphony, Antonín Dvořák wrote to a friend “I am occupied at present with my symphony, and wherever I go I think of nothing except my work, which must be such that it will shake the world, and with God’s help it will.” Join the Thailand Phil, under the direction of Maestra Ligia Amadio, for an earth-shaking performance of what many consider Dvořák’s finest symphony. The first half of the program features Mozart’s warm-hearted Clarinet Concerto performed by Stefan Schilling, former principal clarinetist of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the world-premiere performance of Chr[o]ma by Thailand’s own Thanakarn Schofield.

Firebirds

 

A Journey of Bold and Youthful Adventure

 

Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra invites you on a journey of bold, youthful creativity. Stravinsky, virtually unknown at the time, was just 27 when he was commissioned by the legendary dance troupe Ballets Russes to compose The Firebird, launching his meteoric rise as a contemporary composer. Likewise, Mozart was only 22 when he wrote his Sinfonia Concertante for violin and viola, seeking to make his mark by blending the symphony and concerto. Today, our own Louilarpprasert carries forward that spirit of adventure with Dial-a-Boulez, a daring work that weaves smartphones into the orchestra. Join Maestro Jeffery Meyer and the TPO for an evening of bold, youthful exploration.

Mozart & Mahler

 

A Whole World in a Symphony

 

“To write a symphony is to create a whole world.” These are the words Mahler used to describe what he did best: composing symphonies of epic scale. He originally named his First Symphony Titan, referencing its depiction of youthful heroism and struggle. Maestro Carl St.Clair leads TPO in this immensely powerful work. Opening the program, Mozart’s delightful Piano Concerto No. 21 shines under the artistry of our own esteemed Eri Nakagawa.

Music That Resonates Through Time

 

Brahms’s symphonies stand at a turning point in orchestral history. Brahms composed with deep respect for the Classical traditions of Beethoven and Mozart, yet with ambitious determination to reach beyond those boundaries toward the sweeping Romantic symphonies to come. In the same spirit, Prangcharoen’s Guitar Concerto, performed by virtuoso guitarist Ekachai Jearakul, gazes past the “invisible curve” of the horizon toward a future we cannot yet see. Carl St.Clair leads this program of works that resonate through time.

A Celebration of Great American Music

 

Join the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra for an all-American celebration marking the 250th anniversary of the United States. Under the baton of Maestro Carl St.Clair, the program opens with the beloved theme from E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial composed by the legendary John Williams, the undisputed master of Hollywood film music. This is followed by Williams’s dazzling Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra featuring Tom Hooten, the acclaimed principal trumpet of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The second half explores the rich variety of American music with Bernstein’s rousing Slava!, Barber’s deeply moving Adagio for Strings, selections by the great jazz pianist Duke Ellington, and concludes with Gershwin’s exuberant An American in Paris.

Don Quixote

 

A Concert of Spanish Stories

 

Internationally acclaimed cellist Li-Wei Qin, one of the most sought-after artists of his generation, has earned numerous international prizes and performed with many of the world’s leading orchestras. In this program, he takes on the formidable role of soloist and protagonist in Richard Strauss’s brilliant tone poem Don Quixote inspired by the classic Spanish novel by Miguel de Cervantes. Carl St.Clair opens the concert with the overture to Mozart’s dramatic opera Don Giovanni, a retelling of the legendary Spanish tale of Don Juan. Rounding out the program is Rimsky-Korsakov’s dazzling orchestral showpiece, Capriccio espagnole, inspired by the vibrant rhythms and colors of Spanish folk music.
