Shadows Fall หนึ่งในวง Heavy metal ของ America จากเมือง Springfield รัฐ Massachusetts ฟอร์มวงกันในปี 1995 เป็นวงที่ได้รับอิทธิพลมาจากปรัชญาตะวันออก ถึงแม้ว่าวงนี้จะมีการเปลี่ยนแปลงของวงมาหลายครั้ง แต่ก็ยังยืนหยัดสมาชิกหลักๆ คือ Brian Fair(ร้องนำ) , Jonathan Donais(กีต้าร์ลีด) , Matt Bachand(กีต้าร์) , Paul Romanko(เบส) และ Jason Bittner(กลอง)
เริ่มตั้งแต่มีการฟอร์มวงมา Shadows Fall ได้ออกอัลบัม 6 Studio albums , 3 Compilation album และ 1 DVD โดยที่อัลบัมแรกได้ Phillip Labonte(หลวงพี่ ณ สำนัก All That Remain) มาทำหน้าที่ร้องนำ หลังจากนั้นไม่นานก็ถูกแทนที่โดย Fair Studio album 2 อัลบัมแรกนั้น ได้ David Germain มาทำหน้าทีรัวกระเดื่อง จนกระทั่งในปี 2002 ก็ถูกแทนโดย Bittner อย่างถาวร ในเดือนกุมภาพันธ์ ปี 2008 เพลง Redemption อัลบัม Threads of Life ยังได้รับการเสนอชื่อเข้าชิงรางวัล Grammy Award สาขา Best Metal Performance
ประวัติวง
Shadows Fall ถือกำเนิดในปี 1995 โดยมือกีต้าร์ Jonathan Donais และ Matt Bachand โดยมี Adam Dutkiewicz(มือปั่นหัวลิงแห่ง KSE) ให้การช่วยเหลือในตำแหน่งกลอง Philip Labonte มาทำหน้าที่ร้อง และ Paul Romanko มาทำหน้าทีเดินเบส เมื่อทุกตำแหน่งครบตามแนวหัวแตกแล้ว ก็ได้ถือกำเนิด Shadows Fall อย่างเต็มตัวตั้งแต่บัดนั้นมา EP ตัวแรกที่ทางวงได้ปล่อยออกมา คือเพลง To Ashes โดยที่ Adam ยังรัวกระเดื่องในเพลงนี้ หลังจากที่ปล่อย EP ตัวนี้ออกมา Adam ก็ออกจากการรัวกระเดื่องมาฟอร์มวง Killswitch Engage ต่อทันที (Adam คงจะค้นพบตัวเองว่า เท้ากไม่ไวพอ เท่ามือ) จึงทำให้ตำแหน่งกลองว่างลงหนึ่งตำแหน่ง ต่อมาคนที่รับภาระหน้าที่อันหนักเท้า(ตอนรัวกระเดื่อง)คนต่อไป ก็ตกมาถึง Devid Germain ทำให้วงพร้อมที่จะเล่นเพลงแบบเต็มรูปแบบ เริ่มแรกเลย Shadows Fall ออกทัวร์ใน New England เป็นวงเปิดให้วงหัวแตก อย่างวง Fear Factory และ Cannibal Corpse
เมื่อสั่งสมประสบการณ์ทัวร์จนแก่กล้า จึงมีแรงพอที่จะคิดทำอัลบัมใหม่ ด้วยเหตุนี้เอง ในวันที่ 30 พฤศจิกายน 1997 เป็นฤกษ์ที่ดีที่ Shadows Fall ร่ายมนต์ อัลบัม Somber Eyes to the Sky มาจากนรกแดน Lifeness Records ซึ่งนรกแดนนี้บริหารงานโดย มือกีต้าร์ Bachand มายัดใส่หูนักฟังเป็นอัลบัมแรก
หลายคนคงสงสัยว่าชื่อวงท่านได้แต่ใดมา วันนี้ Hardcore18 จะมาแฉกัน ให้ดูที่ซ้ายมือครับ นี่ล่ะที่ ทำให้ Bachand บรรเจิดไอเดีย นำมาตั้งเป็นชื่อวง มันคือหนังสือการ์ตูนที่ตีพิมพ์ในสมัยปี 1990 ที่ Bachand อ่านอยู่ในขณะนั้น ร้องอ่อกันไปเลย (แต่หน้าปกเข้ากับคนอ่านจริงๆ ท่าจะหลอน)
ปี 1998 Labonte ถูกเชิญให้ออกจากวงเนื่องจากเป็นหลวงพี่ (อันนี้ไม่ใช่) จริงๆแล้วสาเหตุที่ Labonte ถูกเชิญให้ออกจากวงเพราะ Labonte มีความต่างของบุคลิก และแนว ที่เข้ากับวงไม่ได้ Labonte จึงไปฟอร์มวงใหม่ที่ใช้ชื่อว่า All That Remain ทางวง Shadows Fall ได้ออกหานักร้องทันที และได้ไปเจอ Brian Fair สมาชิกวง Overcast ที่กำลังเล่นคอนเสิร์ตอยู่ หลังจากที่ Overcast จบทัวร์ US Sommer Tour แล้ว วงก็แตกทันที ทำให้ Shadows Fall ได้เชิญ Fair มาร่ายเพลงให้วงได้สำเร็จ (Shadows เล่นของใส่ Overcast หรือปล่าวไม่ทราบ ตะหงิดๆ)
หลังจากนั้น Shadows Fall จึงเซ็นสัญญานรกไปอยู่แดน Century Media Records แล้วเริ่มทำอัลบัมที่สอง ที่ชื่อว่า Of One Blood ที่มีนักร้องคนใหม่ Fair มาร่วมร่ายมนต์เพลงด้วย อัลบัมนี้ออกกระแทกหูคนฟังเมื่อปี 2000 โดยที่อัลบัมมีเพลงจากอัลบัม Somber Eyes to the Sky มาทำใหม่ยัดอยู่ด้วย หลังจากที่บันทึกอัลบัมนี้แล้ว David Germain ได้ออกจากวง แล้วแทนที่ว่างโดย Jason Bittner มือกลองจากวง Stigmata
